Wrong. It is Microsoft that does not support three mouse buttons.
XFree86 has always supported three buttons with the *Logitech*
extension of the Microsoft mouse protocol. I have used a Logitech
Pilot mouse with all three buttons since before XFree86 was called
XFree86, with the Microsoft keyword in Xconfig.

"Microsoft(tm) mice only have two buttons by definition."

Johan's comments are CORRECT, judging by my experience. As I said before, my
three button Logitech 'First Mouse', Logitech model number M-MD15L-9F, works
just fine with the Microsoft mouse driver in XFree 1.3 *and* in XFree 2.0 on
FreeBSD. ALL THREE BUTTONS WORK. I'm using it as I type this note from home
via compressed SLIP.
