I asked this question a couple of time as well.  One person suggested
that you put an 'stty -f /dev/vga sane' after the kbd_mode -a command
in startx.  Another suggested that you kill the last thing started
in .xinitrc as the last thing you do in startx.  My problem is that,
if I use the SYSCONS driver, after entering X, my keyboard is dead.

The suggestions listed above are only valid for me if I use the PCCONS
driver.  At least then, my keyboard is dead after I exit X and not during.
