Anyone been following the thread about the Linux port of DOOM in
alt.games.doom/comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action?

Apparently id's Dave Taylor (working in his spare time) has it running
under XFree86 2.0 (using the shared memory extensions). It's very
smooth on his 486 at 320x200, and he's working on the sound support.

Dave's posted in the past that he's willing to take on a small number
of ports if someone can make sure he's got a suitable development
system, and he thought that Linux was "cool" enough to take on.

Is this a "killer app" or what?! There are folks who will say that
a DOS partition does just nicely for this kind of thing, but I for
one will feel quite jealous if BSD can't have one too!!

                Mark.
