Hmm, I'm having problems with the BusLogic and the MAXTOR 540SL drive
as well, but it only happens when I try to access the device.

I found Buslogic's Tech Support to be superb in my case.   They're buying
a MX540S and are going to test it out and get back to me.

Much better than trying to get through to Adaptec.
