For stability reasons, gcc2.4.5 is *STILL* the most stable version of
gcc2 that the FSF has yet created.  Until the patches quit flowing often
(gcc2.5.8 was released this last weekend) I wouldn't recommend using
another version of the compiler.

The main reason for gcc2.5 was C++ support.  But, as someone in another
group commented, the C++ support in 2.4.5 was weak but it worked, but
support in 2.5.X is better but it's busted.  I'll take working over
broken any day.
