Hello all..

I am running FreeBSD 1.0 Release with NO PATCHES at all--straight from the ftp
site! I am using the ALTWD Kernel though. I have an Adaptec 1542C SCSI
controller and am having trouble with thefollowing devices

Maynard Maynstream 2200HS
Toshiba CD-Rom TXM-3301A1

The Maynard tape drive just causes some very strange problems such as!
During initial boot it will just scan the tape forever, and then finally
time out and cause all other SCSI operations to become very weird.

If I tape the tape out while booting, it boots just fine, then when I
put a tape in and try to access it, I get an error from the system. I can't
remember which one..DAMN! But there it is..If anyone has any clue what
could be going on, I'd appreciate it!

The Toshiba CD-Rom drive just gives me a device not configured whenever
I try to mount it. I have tried both things:

mount -t isofs /dev/cd0a /mnt

and

mount -t isofs /dev/cd0d /mnt

Both to no avail. The system says that the drive isn't ready and is empty on
bootup even though there's a disc inside. Someone using NetBSD said he had
the same problem, but was able to mount it just fine under NetBSD. Any help
will surely be appreciated as always..

Thanks..

..Sal
