I've seen this asked recently, but never saw a solution posted. I
too am having the "link down" message from tip. So I would like to
see if there is a known solution, or if someone has it working without
ever having seen this difficulty. The kernel is configured with the
sio driver. I'm about ready to dig into the sio driver in the kernel,
but would rather not re-invent the solution if it can be had on the
net. Thanks,
