In article <genehiCJnCw7.2JE@netcom.com> genehi@netcom.com (Gene Hightower) writes:

I have been having problems reading the GNU source CD-ROM (Sep '93)
with NetBSD 0.9a (Dec 20 kernel). This disc is in ISO9660 format with
Rock Ridge extensions. Some files can be read OK, and the directories
can be listed just fine, but other files (like those in the X11R5/mit
   directory) return I/O error.

I dimly recall some talk a while back about such stuff, but I don't
remember much about it. [Something about inode numbers out of range?]

Hi, Gene.

Are you using a /dev/cd0d rather than /dev/cd0a ? Because cd0d -
partition 3 is special keyword for scsi system. It's will be ignore
incorrect Boundary check(boudary_check_with_label()) for 2048 Block
size like CD FS.

If you are using /dev/cd0d, it's obiously bug in isofs code.

Addition, original isofs with RockRidge Extension has a know problem
as follows;

o Mounting Photo CD with RockRdige Extension Enabled,
          your system will be hunged.

o Exporting isofs, some file on paticular situation can't be read
from nfs client. ( vfs issue )

o A Symbolic File could be missing tartget file/dirctory.

o Get rid of Limitation of RockRidge
(Device file/Re map directory and so on. in TODO/Readme)

All problem have been solved and add new feature almost ready to
alpha test for NetBSD 0.9/FreeBSD1.0R (not for NetBSD0.9a/current and
later, but I beleive NetBSD core team already done for above bug )

New Feature

o Photo CD Single/Multi Session Support for All CD-XA/Multission
          (SCSI-2?) Drive (i.e. TOSHIBA XM3401B, SONY CDU-5601...)

o Reading CD-DA(Degital Audio) as each music by a partition.

        o Multi/Real partition support.

Atsushi.
