A patch to compile the bsd make of the net-2 distribution on aix 3.2.4 is available from ftp.uni-stuttgart.de:/sw/src/patches/bsd-make-rus-patch*. It workes to compile some bsd sources, the only problem may be library support as AIX *.a files differ quite a lot from BSD *.a files. I don't know how to test it, so its a open question whether it works with this aspect. It compiled db-1.73, at least.
