	beep isn't in the bsd-du-jour cursesl ibrary, so i just replaced it
	with a dummy function.  worked fine.

	re_comp and re_exec are in -lcompat i belive, and if they're
	not, just replace them with regcomp and regexec.

	i think that's all i had to do to get 1.2 going.  don't know about
	the others.
