No, I think his reply was more in the vein of "here goes another flame war".
The original poster's question is quite legitimate; however, it seems that
we can't get a objective response without personalities getting involved.
That's a shame since I've talked via e-mailed to many individuals involved
with 386BSD, FreeBSD, and NetBSD (and Linux) and they've all been helpful.

The best answer (for the sake of net traffic) is, unfortunately, "try all
of them and use the one which meets your needs."
