I have a problem with FreeBSD. I have the system built on a Conner CP3504
disk but also have a SCSI disk (Wren9), as the second disk, attach to the
controller. The object is eventually to remove the Conner and just use
the SCSI. The controller I use a ShineDisk LCS-663X(F) which allows a
SCSI disk to appear to the system as an IDE. I've already had problems
trying to use the SCSI as the primary disk since the kernel cannot read
the IDE disk parameters (there aren't any of course).

I've rebuild the kernel to substitute appropriate parameters to a diskinfo
request. Howver, whenever I attempt to access the second disk in any way,
it instantly causes the primary disk to become inoperable and report
hard disk errors. It is as if the second disk surplants the first completely
when first accessed.

Any help with sorting the problem out would be appreciated.
