I've run both BSDI and FreeBSD on a Compaq Proliant 1000 machine.

It's a 60mhz Pentium machine. The configuration was an Adaptec SCSI
controller with (5) 1.001GB Compaq plug-in SCSI drives, and a Compaq (Wangtek)
SCSI cartridge tape drive. (I used an Adaptec controller. Currently the Compaq
SCSI Array controllers aren't supported by *BSD, only SCO).

It's nice because the drives are plug-in, and you can pop in the operating
system du jour to run, without having to take the machine apart, disconnect
any cables, or use any tools.
