/etc/gettytab is the first place I looked, but I couldn't figure out what
must be set to force cs8.  I assumed I had to modify the default entry at
the top of gettytab but what flag do I set?

So what you are saying is that cs8 on serial port logins will NOT work under FreeBSD-1.0R, correct?  How do I get to 1.02?  Patches?  Sup?
