perhaps the "us vs. them" comes from being pretty-much blindsided by
the announcement? i dunno, i worked many long and hard hours on trying
to get the two systems merged. I would have liked maybe 10 minutes
notice of what was going on. Or perhaps some details from Jordan
as to why FreeBSD decided to make this announcement...

If you felt blind-sided, then I apologise. I didn't post it to
-hackers because -hackers is just too big and I didn't feel like
getting the abuse from many of the NetBSD people on it (and don't say
I wouldn't have - you know better).

own system, so they can claim it's "better," and not give us properly-
attributed credit for the work we've done. The day that i started
seeing postings on FreeBSD mailing lists which had no body, and only
a subject which said "Has anybody picked up XXX from NetBSD yet?"
where XXX was the "neat feature of the day," i lost all faith in
   FreeBSD's development process.

Oh Chris, give us all a break ok? When I complained about NetBSD people
doing exactly the same thing, you told me to get lost. When I asked
you to have the people who felt `unattributed' contact us if they
had a grievance, which we'd be more than happy to rectify, you never
responded. Both messages are in my +outbox, you want me to dig them
up and post them?

This is just drivel..
