I just installed it the other day and had -0- problems.  How are you
installing the code (ie what options are you building into it)?

I am running XFree86-2.0.  It -does- work well on Sun/Dec machines as
you said.  I would be glad to help by giving you what I have build (I
run FreeBSD-1.0-RELEASE as well.
