The system will use shadow passwords anyway, so you are _relatively_ secure
even without crypt.

Some time ago I created a non-US version of libcrypt and put it up for ftp
on a machine here, but it seems as though that machine's since been reused.
If someone can point out an appropriate FTP server (OUTSIDE THE U.S. !)
that I can dump it on I'll be glad to pass it on (or I can email if only
a few people want it).

It's a tar file that unpacks into /usr/src/lib/libcrypt ready to compile (on
NetBSD 0.9 and later) and contains documentation on which programs need to
be recompiled to use it. It is based around the UFC-crypt routines that are
also used in the GNU C library. In fact the only change was a new Makefile.

I'll repack it tonight in source and binary packages for NetBSD 0.9
installation, but won't be able to produce an "xdm-des" package for a while.

I *should* go back and look at the package in detail again, especially in
light of the libdes package recently posted, but in light of my other tasks
I may be passing this onto someone else soon.
