I beg to differ dear sir! With both NetBSD-0.8 and then with NetBSD-0.9,
I had this harddrive hanging problem. When I moved over to _FreeBSD_, the
problem went away and never came back. That was with GAMMA and now FINAL
RELEASE.

Before NetBSD or FreeBSD, I had been using 386BSD-0.1+patch-kits, and when I
installed the original barsroom driver I had nothing but trouble.

I do admit that I am using old hardware 2x Maxtor XT1140 MFM drives :-).
I am happy with FreeBSD, as long as I can read my disks.
