I think pccons and XFree86 2.0 are now not getting along for some
reason, since others are having this problem.  Please try this with
the syscons console driver and at least 2 VTS and let me know if it
fixes it - I am about to nuke the pccons driver in favor of a
minimally configured syscons driver since we now have the kernele
space for it.
