This does not happen if you use syscons & XFree86 2.0 since that does
not use /dev/vga, but rather a more elegant mechanism for requesting
a free vty from the driver. I am about to punt pccons from the system
as this is causing too many problems.

   2. This is a subject I haven't really seen addressed in any previous
postings. Is there support for sending commands to my CDROM to play
music CDs? If it matters, I've got an Adaptec 1542 controller and

Yes, don't have the ioctl's offhand - look in /usr/src/sys/scsi/scsi_cd.h.
There's even an `xcdplayer' package floating around.

   3. To what address to I send a request to join the mailing lists
   FreeBSD-[bugs|questions|hackers]?

Mail to majordomo@freefall.cdrom.com and say, somewhere in the body of
the message:

subscribe freebsd-xxxx

Where `xxxx' is the list you want.
