*sigh*

I just went through this exercise. I installed NetBSD 0.9
and it does not have bi-directional com ports, but netbsd-current
does. This is perhaps the confusion. I am waiting for a local friend
to sup the latest NetBSD locally because I need bi-directional
com ports _badly_.

Colin Surprenant (galaad@rot.qc.ca) had put together a patch kit
for NetBSD 0.8 from cgd's original work (com-beta-0.21), but
has not got a version for NetBSD 0.9 (There are major enough
differences in the locations of device files, and changes to
the com files themselves. non-trivial) (I found out from him
that netbsd-current had the new 'comsio' driver...)

As the 'com' driver is very buggy on my hardware (486 DX 66mhz) anyway,
(I have yet to manage to get an incoming modem connection going)
I have decided to wait until I get the new 'comsio' driver for
NetBSD and throw the 'com' driver in the garbage.... There seems
little point debugging an obsolete driver...

If anyone would care to email me a copy of the latest 'comsio'
driver, I wouldn't say no :-) but check with me first via email.
Just what I need. 6 MB of duplicate driver source through my
....slow.... modem.... ;-)
