Hi all !

I've had several problems with getting my mouse to work so that I can get
XFree86 to run.

To give you an idea of my setup :

A 486-33 SX with A aha1542b scusibus, two com ports, one busmouse interface,
a western digital card, a CLGD5210 card with 512k videoram, and 8 Mb of
normal RAM.

Here's my problem :

I cannot get my mouse to be read by any software - it seems as though it
can't open the com ports.

Here's what I've tried :

cat tty00
cat tty01
cat tty02

I have disabled the bus mouse interface via a jumper.
I have recompiled my kernel to test out the sio0 through sio1 drivers.
I have tried com0 through com4.
I have changed the config for the kernelfor sio1 to reflect IRQ4 (COM1).
I have tried different baud rate settings.

Questions :
------------

How must I specify for that com port in my /etc/ttys file ?
How do I set up my com ports properly, so that I can be sure that it is not
the software settings that are mucking up the system.
Which major character device number do I use (ie. is 8 correct for the com
drivers and is 28 correct for the sio drivers) ?
How do I test the comport more efficiently - I have tried kermit but it
gives me a "could not open - interrupted system call" when I try to ^C.
Can it be the make of the mouse ? I'm using a TEC-MOUSE, but have also
tried a LOGITECH mouse. (I used the "logitech" as the mouse in /etc/Xconfig.)
Does the booting up info (ie. sio1 - 0x3*** to 0x3*** type <16540>) help
me in showing that it reads the comport correctly ?

I would really appreciate any help , as I've tried to get this thing working
for a week now, and it's driving me to the point where I'd rather install
something else......

Thankyou,
Rolf.
