Hay, I'm Chuck Bacon, and I said I couldn't get the middle mouse button
to work.

I found the answers. Here are two of them:

1. The mouse has a slide switch on bottom labeled "Microsoft" and
"Mouse Systems." Set it to "Mouse Systems"

2. In Xconfig, change the "Microsoft" keyword to "MouseSystems"
Now, Xfree flies and the mouse looks great.

3. Back in DOS land, try and find out how to fix Windows 3.1!
Head for "mouse" under control panel, and all you see is the
two-button mouse with no mention of mouse brand name!
The secret is to go to hardware setup (this is from mem., so
I'm being approximate), and lo & behold, here's this seletcion
of mouse brands. Replace "Microsoft" with "Mouse Systems" and
   you're home free.

So now I can switch between 386bsd/Xfree and DOS/Windows without
having to fiddle with the mouse's switch. AND! All 3 buttons work.

Thanks to those who straightened me out:

PS: How come the greatest number of responses came from Brits?
Thanks, chaps (sun never sets, etc.)!
