Last crash here was 3 weeks ago. It doesn't look like it is screaming to
crash again anytime soon either. This is with network and serial logins,
sometimes over 10 at a time (only 2 serial).

However, if you have a bad IDE card and/or disk (many of them are), the wd
driver will hang the system distressingly often (sometimes hang it) because
the hardware is expected to be perfect (which it rarely is). The same problem
exists for NetBSD and 386bsd (R.I.P.). The wd driver also deals with ESDI and
ST506 disks, and is presumably also problematic on that front.

I have also seen the com driver hang the machine completely, but since
replacing it with the sio driver, this problem has gone away.

SCSI disks are a real must for a serious system.

I thoroughly recommend FreeBSD to anyone who wants to run unix and dares
to use an Intel (or compatible) CPU and the braindead PC architecture.
