To follow up my own posting (and test my new news install :-) I have
been playing with the set up and the mono server works fine. So, I
guess I may have screwed some config up and so on, but I have had
XFree86 (1.2) running under 386bsd before and I don't expect that
any of the hardware has broken.

Sigh. BTW, trying to use gdb on a serial terminal didn't help, I get
the strange com port problems some other people have mentioned.

Thanks for any pointers or hacks. Oh yeah, NetBSD-0.9, XFree86-1.3, mit
X srcs up to patch 25 and sundry sun patches for the X tree we use at
work. (I think these are completely orthoganal to XFree86, but I could
be wrong).
