Try

	dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/rwd1d bs=512 count=1

If /dev/zero doesn't exist, you should mknod it. Its major # is identical
to /dev/mem or /dev/null, the minor # is 12 (i hope - at least in 386BSD).
