Chris Nystrom, with the assistance of Gary Pickens will give a short
lecture on the free software movement, and how you can now get very powerful
unix style operating systems for free. He will then go on to cover Linux
a very powerful unix clone developed by a Finnish college student. David
Maynard will discuss the various free versions of BSD that are now available.

There will be several machines of varying capabilities so you can test
out and judge the software for yourself. If you are not familiar with Linux
or BSD, I think you will be pleasantly surprised by these 32 bit, multi-user,
multi-tasking operating systems that can include TCP/IP networking, and
the X-Windows graphical user interface.

The presentation is free and open to all. For more information send
mail to free-os@underg.ucf.org.

For those interested in free operating systems in the Austin, Texas area,
please subscribe to the free-os mailing list by sending mail to:

                   free-os-request@underg.ucf.org.

Also feel free to call my public access Linux system at 339-8221. Login
as guest. In the utilities section is a procedure to request an account.
The BBS software is a collection of unix shell scripts I wrote myself, but
shell access is available. There is a single v.32 line. Use 8N1 as your
communication parameters.
