I ran the DMA tests for several hours, with no failing. I then checked
all jumpers on the card, but everything is set to default as of the spec
I got. I also reinstalled the j9:4 jumper (disable autosense) with no
results. My Adaptec bios is 3.07, scsicntrl reports Firmware rev. 06.
Do I need a bios upgrade (don't answer 'yes' if you don't know)?

I don't know what you mean by '"dumbed down" the config by adding wait
states to memory'. There is no extra firmware in this 386. And no way to
adjust wait states etc. The machine is a plain 25Mhz 386 with no fancy
rom or setups except facilities for setting disk types, shadowing and
CPU speed. All shadowing is off, CPU speed set to normal.

Is it possible to discuss these problems with your SCSI guru, or is he
<<off limits>>?

I badly wish to get the machine working, but indluging in wishful
thinking never got anybody anywhere in this world...
