If the remote computer is connected to a network and is doing nameservice
and acting as a gateway then all you need is a "resolv.conf" file in your
/etc directory to tell your system to rely on the remote computer.

(i'd post an example of "resolv.conf" but I can't remember what it looks
like)

Otherwise...

1) To get your system to pass packets between two networks you need to
compile your kernel with the "gateway" option specified. And both
networks need to be configured correctly.

2) I don't know enough about nameservice to be of help there.
