I'm looking for some books that explain how the PC hardware works. The books
in the local shops only have vague details about low level bits of the
hardware. What I'm looking for are things like what commands can be send
to an IDE drive, how to program the real time clock, how to program
the floppy drive, etc.

Or do I have to call the manufacture of the various chips and get their
data books? Any help or information appreciated.
