I tried upon four different machines and had no success so far. The story so far: I downloaded dist.fs and fixit.fs and put them via rawrite on 1.2 and 1.4 MB disks. Machine #1: Compaq 386-25, 9MB RAM, 110 MB IDE Drive. 1.44 & 1.2 MB FDD, even swaped them ( A <-> B ) I removed any other hardware (just in case) Symptom : Reads for a second or two from the boot disk, then reboots. Same for 1.2 & 1.4 MB boot disk. Doesnīt matter if boot image on disk is dist.fs or fixit.fs. I _still_ have 386BSD 0.0 on this machine which boots from the hard drive. #2 : A Noname 486 with 4 MB and SCSI Drive. No, i didnīt expect it to make use of the built-in Seagate Controller, but : Boots for quite a while, throws out the 386BSD Copyright message. Identifies hardware components, then says : Changing root device to fd0 - and stops (This applies to the dist.fs boot disk, i didnīt tried the fixit.fs disk) #3: Another Noname with lots of Hardware in it. (I donīt know exactly about the components) Just hangs when trying to boot dist.fs. With fixit.fs there is a message like "could not find 386bsd, trying unix...", then it tries to read vmunix, then ...., then ... over and over again. #4: Siemens 386 with Phoenix Bios, 4 MB RAM, IDE Drive. Just hangs, drive light stays on. It really makes me wonder why machine #1 (Compaq) wonīt boot. It did fine with Release 0.0, why does 0.1 not work ? Any hints/suggestions would be appreciated. ------------------------------------ Z.
