Subject: Anyone using the FEB 93 cnews? with sh(1)?

I am not so much interested in installing cnews at the moment
as verifying that it works with the default utilities,
since we would like to include it in the FreeBSD distribution.

It seems that sh(1) stumbles a bit on the configuration. E..g.,
it complains about unexpected parenthesis when executing `( >$a )'.
My question is: once installed, does the FEB 93 cnews package
work correctly with sh(1) and the other NetBSD/386BSD 0.2.4 utilities,
or does, say, sh(1) need to be replaced with bash(1), and so on?
Any patches or other tips on running cnews under 386BSD/NetBSD would be
appreciated. (btw, how stable is the FEB 93 cnews?)
