                What follows is a condensation Minutes for June 8th
        of the QIC the committees.
 
        These are the proposals for changes to:
 
                QIC-117, the Command Set Interface Specifications
                         for Flexible Disk Controller Based Mini
                         Data Cartridge Tape Drives.
 
        These changes will also apply to the new QIC-3010-MC & QIC-3020-MC.
 
        QIC-93-24,C........Support variable tape length
        QIC-93-25,A........Alternate directory placement
        QIC-93-45,B........ID burst placement
        QIC-93-48,A........Beginning gap length
        QIC-93-49,B........Compression format refinement
        QIC-93-50,A........Compression format refinement
 
        These were topics for discussion on July 7, at the LAX Marriott.
 
        QIC-93-55,......Revisions to QIC-117 and QIC-113
        (no number yet) Proposal for MS-Windows NT filesystem support
 
                I don't have any copies of these proposed changes.
        So, the alternatives are wait till the changes are done and
        approved _or_ write the QIC Facilitator and ask for a copy
        of the proposals. (See QIC News and Notes for Facilitator
        address.)

                The Board of Directors will meet on Aug 30.
 
                The other subcommittees will meet sept. 1.

                I will try to attend the meetings in an attempt
        to make a few proposals.
 
        1)  Ask for a field in the QIC-80 to indicate an
            experimental file system on the tape.
 
        2)  Ask that all QIC specifications and standards be
            keep in electronic format.
 
        3)  Ask that the Facilitator keep the standards information
            on an accessible resource (BBS, FTP, UUCP, e-mail, etc.).
