Try the boot floppies available via anonymous FTP from ftp.compaq.com:

             pub/386bsd/compaq.486_50.boot
             pub/386bsd/compaq.486_50.fixit

These are the original 386BSD 0.1 boot floppies with boot programs
that will work on Compaq 486/50's. (When it asks you to enter the
next floppy, just hit return.)
