Folks,

I'm truly sorry if this is an FAQ, but I couldn't find it. Could
someone describe, or point me to a description of the issues/problems
involved with running ANY of the current crop of free *nix'es (BSD386,
386BSD, Linux) on a ThinkPad? I've been told it's the bus
(microchannel) that makes it impossible, but its been so long that
I've been away from the PC world, I'm afraid I don't fully understand
the issues. Is it just plain impossible, could a sufficient amount of
hacking get the job done, or has it already been done? I'm going to
be given one of these things, and would much prefer to have some
variety of *nix and X windows (and SLIP) running on it instead of
DOS.

Please reply via e-mail, I'll summarize if desired/needed.

TIA,
