Imagine my surprise when I tried to run the sup that Chris so handily
put up for anonymous FTP at sun-lamp, and then proceeded to get
something on the order of 250 invalid /etc/spwd.db errors 8-0.

It turns out that one of the first things that happened with NetBSD
after the 0.8 release was a change to the db routines that make the old
spwd.db inaccessible. I remember this from my rather spectacular system
crash while I was toying with building the system with the current
sources a while back. I took the liberty of FTPing the source for sup
from sun-lamp, and recompiled them to use the old database format. I
generated a new executable that will read the vanilla 0.8 passwd
database structures without error now. It is available as the file
supkit-0.8.tar.z in the pub directory here at hrd769.brooks.af.mil. If
anyone is interested in putting this somewhere on sun-lamp, I certainly
wouldn't mind :-)...
