I am sorry if this question has been hashed through ~rthis newsgorup
a thousand times already but I did watch for a few days and didn't
see any posting of FAQ so I will go ahead.

I am interested in getting the cheapest UNIX system with X Windows
that I can. I figure this means going with a 80486 PC Machine.
What I need to know is:

How much hard disk space mustI have for the system and X11 ?
What are the cheapest decent operating systems available ?
(Here Public Domain and Shareware obviously getpoints.)
Do the systems come with a C-Compiler or is GNU a good source ?

Sorry again if my questions are old hat.

P.S. I won't post E-Mail responses unless people show an explicit
interest. Something I doubt will happen.
