I want to hook a modem up to com1 and I'd also like to hook a null modem cable up to com2 to another pc that I have. I read the man pages for tip, /etc/remote, /etc/phones and I can't seem to get things going. Is there some other file I need to edit? My modem is set up to not have DTR (or one of those lines, I don't have my modem here) the line forced active. Is this wrong? Is /dev/com1 hooked up to com port 1? If so, can I just do something like % echo "atdt1234" > /dev/com1 and have that work? Any clues much appreciated. If someone has a simple set up, with a modem hooked up to a com port and nothing else really going on could you just email me the contents of all the files you had to edit?
