The current version of the GNU ld program will allow creation of "holes"
in the link map of the type you need. You will need to modify the
bootstrap code to look for the alternate text and data sections so that
it can load the image to the upper memory.

If anyone knows how to do the second part - I'd be glad in helping with
the first. We can also try to take advantage of certain chipsets to use
the RAM which "shadows" certain areas between 640k and 1024k and use the
memory.
