Ummmm I *think* I might have fixed this one already.  I had the same
problem except I had an ESDI drive, the patchkit seemed to exacerbate
the problem.  I thought that a later patchkit contained my patch to
fix this but I am not sure now.  What I found was that sometimes the
controller and the hard-disk seem to get out of sync with each other
and the controller thinks the disk is always busy when it is not.  I
added code to the wait loops in the driver to timeout the wait and
reset the controller if this occurred.  If you cannot find the patch
(I think is was on agate somewhere) then send me a mail message and I
will forward a copy to you.
