Two things come to mind, the first one being, does your system boot up when
it is COLD booted?  (Ie: After you turn the power off, then back on?)  I
had a silly problem once where the reset that 386BSD performed NEVER did
a boot afterwards.  Another thing might be something with the SCSI 
device driver, check with Chris about this one seeing as I am one of the
lusers w/o a SCSI drive... <G>
