Subject: How to get Wangtek 5525ES to read/write QIC-150?

Hi,
I just picked up a Wangtek 5525ES, which is a QIC-525 tape drive.
It is my understanding that this drive can read/write QIC-150 formats as
well as the 525 format. Unfortunately, I can't get the drive to exhibit
this feature.

When I try and read or write a 150, I get st0: invalid command, and
some other errors. Before I look into this too much, I wanted to know if
anyone else out there has this working, and if maybe I'm just missing the
obvious...

My setup is: 486DX-50, adaptec 1542b, there are 3 scsi drives on the bus,
none of which are terminated. The Wangtek sits on the end, and is terminated.
All scsi peripherals are internal. I have the Drive set for SCSI-I right
now (didn't know it was SCSI-II capable until today), but I wouldn't think
that would matter.

The drive works just great with a 525 cartridge (so far...), but I really
need interoperability with QIC-150's. I have obtained specsheets from Wangtek,
and it looks like the drive definitely supports QIC-150 format.

If anyone has any info on this, I would very much like to hear about it.

If it turns out that the driver doesn't support this yet, I guess I'll
add it (or offer to help any people already pursuing that).

Thanks in advance,

Bob. bob@prepress.com or bob@osomil.speakez.com
