The version of dvips i compiled wanted to have "ed" for editing something, since
there is no ed in the standard distribution, i ran the scripts on another
machine xferring the results to 386bsd. Since then dvips runs fine.

Btw, is there an ed available, has someone gotten the recently posted ed
(comp.sources.misc) to run ?
