The problem with elm is that it depends on the shell doing something it's
not documented to do. It just happens to work because of the order the bourne
and bourne again shells manipulate file descriptors.

The funny thing is, that in almost all these cases the Right Thing To Do is
simply not run the delivery program in the background... for reasons completely
unrelated to the differences between sh/bash and ash.
