helped me in saying:

For old Logitech mice try:
Mousesystems    "/dev/com0"
#  BaudRate     9600
#  SampleRate   150
#  Emulate3Buttons

(Check what serial port your mouse is on)
(don't specify baudrate and samplerate)
For modern Logitech mice, try substituting "Logitech" or "Microsoft"
(trust me...)

Now my Logtech S9 mouse works without Problems with the Mousesystems
entry. Isn't that something for the X386 FAQ ?
