|First printers. I created lpt0 and lpt1 withe the MAKEDEV script in

Perhaps you try the interruptless driver ?

#device lpt0	at isa? port "IO_LPT3" tty irq 7 vector lptintr
device lpa0	at isa? port "IO_LPT1" tty
#device lpa1	at isa? port "IO_LPT2" tty

I have a sio/parallel interface card where the line printer
device is on:
	lpa0 at 0x378-0x37f on isa

Then make a ( cd /dev ; sh MAKEDEV lpa0 ) if necessary.
My printcap entry:

lp|text_mode|HP Deskjet 500 with cr/nl conversion:\
	:lp=/dev/lpa0:\
	:of=/usr/lib/lp/crnl:\		cr --> cr/nl conv prg,
:lf=/var/log/lpd-errs:\ perhaps uneccesary for you !
	:sd=/var/spool/lpd:\
	:af=/var/account/lp:\
	:df=/home/bin/dvips:\
	:pc#1000:\
	:sh:\
	:mx#0:

Hope, that helps.
