A few questions:

1) Partitioning and using disklabel

I've used the PFDISK.EXE program on my SCSI drive and it has
reported that I have 1004 cyl., 64 heads, 32 sectors. Which if you
calculate it out comes to 1053MB (or so) which is about right for the
drive. In the 'manual' for the drive the following specifications
are given: Capacity 1054MB, Cyl: 1872, Heads: 15, Sec/Trk: 74 (avg).

From the 'avg' after the sec/trk I'm assuming that the drive
does some funky translations and I'm guessing that pfdisk is going
through the adaptec bios to read something from the drives hardware.
Everything I've seen about pfdisk leads me to believe that I should
use its numbers. Can someone confirm this for me? With a big drive
like this I'd like to make it 'right'.

2) DMA transfer rates on the 1542b

The adaptec 1542b (and I gather the 1542c as well) allows you to
set the DMA transfer rate. I've never been brave enough to change the
setting from the default 5.0MB/sec. Has anyone done this with success?
I've got a 386/40 so I should have the horsepower..

3) BSD filesystem

What information does it use from the disktab entry? Is rotation
speed really used? (My drive reportedly has 5411/min) Isn't someone
keeping a list of all disktab's reported and has a big list? Where can
we get at that list?

Thanks
