The problem is in the math emulation code, not in assuming you need
a FP processor.

The 1.2 binaries also support FPU emulation, but apparently GCC2 does
things a little bit differently regarding FP stuff as compared to GCC1.

But, you should be able to run the 1.2 stuff on a FPU-less processor,
but you may run into problems.
