        A friend of mine also experienced the problem with scrollbars you
describe with the 1.2 xterm.  I haven't had any such problems - although
I have a 387 on my system and my friend doesn't.  I heard that there are
some releases of XFree86-1.2 compiled with the '-m486' option.

        With regard to the backspace trouble, try "stty echoke" in your
.cshrc file, it works for me.
