HiHo:

Having seen the announcement for Texinfo 3.0 I decided I would get it
down and take a try at porting before Charles Hannum got around to it.

Hehe, Here were my "trials and tribulations":
tar oxf texinfo-3.0.tar
cd texinfo-3.0
configure
make
make install
cd /usr/local/info
mv * /usr/local/lib/emacs/info
cd ..
rm -r info
ln -s /usr/local/lib/emacs/info info

The only complaint from teh compiler was a typemismathc of some sort
in tilde.c, and that wasn't enough to stopp the compilation or crash
the program for it's initial runs... I have used it to peruse the Calc
manula and the emacs manual, with no hitches...

And the footnotes are spiffy.

The only thing that was at all special was moving all the new info
files to the emacs info dir, and linking back to /usr/local/info cause
I was too lazy to edit the configure file...

Have fun and enjoy, I am...
